Good to Great, by Jim Collins

"Good to Great" introduces the "Hedgehog Concept," a sweet spot between what you love, what you're good at, and what can make you money. It aligns closely with the Japanese idea of Ikigai, emphasizing a holistic approach to personal and professional fulfillment. This expanded concept helps in not just running a business, but also in understanding oneself better.

I use both concepts in building strategies for companies and personal life.

The Wise Company, by Ikujiro Nonaka and Hirotaka Takeuchi

"Nonaka and Takeuchi emphasize the importance of practical wisdom for continuous innovation. This book opened my eyes to knowledge management, showcasing how companies align their interests with society and foster a culture of wisdom through informal and formal interactions. Inspired by the SECI concept and the flow of tacit to explicit knowledge, I've integrated these principles into my professional journey, ensuring that innovation is continuous and impactful.

Emotional Intelligence, by Daniel Goleman

"Working with Emotional Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman shows that EI is more critical than IQ for career success. Goleman details key EI skills and their impact on leadership and organizational success. His research reveals EI accounts for nearly 90% of the difference between star performers and others. This book offers practical guidance for leaders to develop EI and build dynamic organizations. After reading it, my leadership approach transformed, improving my company's growth. Leaders should read this book, seek team feedback, and understand emotions for success.

My favourite Top 10 books

One believe, that you can know a person better through the book they read. Over the years, I've read 100+ insightful books, each adding a gram of wisdom or knowledge to my approach to life. So, here are my TOP 10.

Growth, by Vaclav Smil

This book offers a comprehensive look at the phenomenon of growth across various scales, from microorganisms to empires. It explores growth in nature, human development, economies, and civilizations, highlighting how it shapes our world.

Personally, I ordered "Growth" just before the pandemic, and it profoundly illuminated the intricate global interactions and dependencies. Smil's insights helped me understand the broader implications of growth in both natural and societal contexts, especially in times of global disruption.

Contemporary Strategy Analysis, by Robert M. Grant

It is a comprehensive guide on strategic decision-making, addressing challenges in a dynamic business environment. The book equipped me with essential concepts and techniques through real-world examples and case studies of well known brands. Ideal for business students and professionals alike.

The Achievement Habit, by Bernard Roth

Bernard Roth, co-founder of the Stanford d.School, reveals how design thinking can help achieve personal goals. Roth argues that achievement is a skill that can be learned and flexed like a muscle. He provides discussions, stories, and exercises to foster positive change and build confidence. Key lessons include taking action, avoiding excuses, building resilience, and learning from experiences. Personally, I learned that we are not defined by our roles, and questioning "Who am I?" is essential for growth.

Customers for Life, by Carl Sewell

Carl Sewell and Paul B. Brown reveal the secrets to exceptional customer service, focusing on meeting and exceeding customer expectations. Essential guidelines include underpromising and overdelivering, actively seeking customer feedback, and measuring performance. Sewell's insights are grounded in his success in transforming his Dallas Cadillac dealership into one of America's largest by prioritizing customer satisfaction and loyalty.

This book taught me the true value of having a customer and how sales is about helping others.

Radical Candor, by Kim Scott

Kim Scott emphasizes a management style that balances caring personally with challenging directly. Scott's approach, developed from her experiences at Google and Apple, advocates for honest feedback that improves team performance. The book outlines three principles: make it personal, get stuff done, and understand why it matters. It helps managers build strong relationships, motivate teams, and achieve success while maintaining integrity. Personally, "Radical Candor" taught me the importance of trust, a feedback culture, and teamwork, transforming how I lead and collaborate.

Creativity, by OSHO

This book has been a beacon, illuminating the potential of human creativity. It taught me that creativity isn't a talent but a way of operating, and flourishing when we let go of our ego. This insight was instrumental in my personal and professional life, where ego once played a huge role. Despite my reservations about Osho, this book opened my eyes to the pitfalls of ego-centrism and the importance of embracing creativity as a means to navigate and innovate in life.

Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin

What a timeless literary treasure offering a glimpse into the life of one of America's founding fathers. Franklin's memoir chronicles his journey from humble beginnings to becoming a polymath, inventor, and statesman, filled with insightful anecdotes and valuable life lessons.

Personally, this book was groundbreaking for me, highlighting virtues like humility, wisdom, hard work, creativity, and respect for others. It should be taught in schools and revisited throughout life for its profound lessons.
